About Thetis Island
Thetis Island lies in the Strait of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the mainland of British Columbia. Home to roughly 400 full-time residents and many seasonal visitors, the island is known for its forested hills, rocky shoreline and friendly community. There are limited services, so visitors should plan ahead.
The island is roughly 10 square kilometres in area and offers quiet rural roads, walking trails and beautiful views across the water to neighbouring islands.
Getting Here
The most common route is via BC Ferries from Chemainus on Vancouver Island. Route 20 serves Chemainus–Thetis–Penelakut several times a day. Visit the official BC Ferries schedule to plan your sailing and check for service notices. Busy sailings can fill up; arrive early during peak times.
Daily float plane service operates between Richmond (Vancouver) and Telegraph Harbour on Thetis Island. SeaAir Seaplanes runs scheduled flights — typically twice per day — providing a quick 20-minute flight from Vancouver. See their routes & schedules page for current timetables and fares.
Private boats are welcome at the public dock and at local marinas. Please contact marinas ahead of time to inquire about transient moorage availability.
There is no public camping on Thetis Island. Make sure you have confirmed accommodation before arriving and respect private property.
